Michael McCabe

Michael McCabe has an MBS (UCD) and MBA (NorthWestern University,
Chicago). His current approach to consulting and business performance
improvement has its roots In his first assignment as a senior consultant with
Accenture. During his first foray into the world of business the then 23 year
old Michael came away with a fundamental insight – those who work day to day in
business operations have phenomenal untapped knowledge about how to improve
business performance. Much of that knowledge goes unnoticed - forever. As a
result many businesses have lower organisational profits, poorer service,
higher risk, less than perfect levels of customer satisfaction. Since his first
working assignment, Michael has been employed in full time roles with large
organisations – Accenture, Banks in the UK
and Ireland, Investment
Management companies, Smurfit
Business School.
He has been a Corporate Lending Executive, lead an IT function in a large Bank,
managed operational units, assisted large companies to enhance operational
performance, developed and delivered educational programmes to Masters Degree
students. Michael deeply believes that trust is lacking in many business
relationships and thus his view that there is significant untapped knowledge.
Those who perform the day to day work have tremendous insights. By giving
them credit; genuinely involving them and building trust , many businesses can
tap into an easy mechanism to improve business performance.
Michael’s career has now spanned 30 years. He is a currently a lecturer in the Smurfit Business School. In the last 4 years he has embarked on a career as a self employed consultant whose clients have included Insurance Companies, Banks, Telecoms organisations, Charities, State companies and a large number of SME’s. His key interest is in improving operational standards of all kinds by engaging staff to define practical solutions to build better business performance. His approach revolves around the belief that “everyone can win”. He challenges status quo principles and continually proves that there are easy to implement solutions which significantly improve performance without majorly changing the fundamental infrastructure of organisations.
Michael is actively involved in the Society of St Vincent de Paul and is President of the Greystones / Delgany Conference. This Charity fits completely with his personal set of values. People can share, people can help others – both in the communities where we live and in the communities where we work. What we need is openness and honesty so that changes and solutions can be implemented which benefit everyone.
